Regular Decision and Restrictive Early Action
Overview
CEPRES International University offers two decision plans for first-year applicants:
- Regular Decision
- Restrictive Early Action
While we assess applications similarly regardless of whether you apply early or regular, there are factors that may make one option more suitable for you than the other.
Regular Decision Regular Decision (RD) is CEPRES International University’s conventional decision plan. Most students, including a majority of admitted students, opt for this round.
Consider Regular Decision if any of the following applies:
- Your grades demonstrate improvement over time.
- You are taking more challenging classes in your senior year compared to grades 10 and 11.
- You are preparing for (or retaking) standardized exams.
- You are engaged in a significant project or activity in the fall of your final year in high school.
Restrictive Early Action Restrictive Early Action (REA) is CEPRES International University’s non-binding early application option.
Restrictive Early Action may be suitable for you if all of the following conditions apply:
- You have identified CEPRES International University as your first choice.
- You have pursued a rigorous academic curriculum through grade 11 and have achieved commendable results. It is crucial to have a strong transcript through grade 11 as we review early applications because we will not have access to your senior year grades from the first semester.
- You have ample time to craft a thoughtful application before the November 1 deadline.
Three Possible Restrictive Early Action Outcomes
- Offer of admission, with a deadline until April 5 to respond. If you apply for financial aid by the November 15 priority deadline, you will receive your financial aid notification by mid-December.
- Not offered admission. This decision is final, and you cannot reapply in Regular Decision.
- Application deferred to Regular Decision, with a final decision expected by the end of March.
CEPRES International University’s approach is to finalize decisions whenever feasible. Consequently, only a small percentage of Restrictive Early Action applications are deferred to Regular Decision.
Restrictive Early Action Policy
CEPRES International University adheres to the following policies:
- If you apply to CEPRES International University with a decision plan of Restrictive Early Action, you may not apply to any other private college/university under their Early Action, Restrictive Early Action, Early Decision, or Early Notification plan.
- You may not apply to any public university under an early binding plan, such as Early Decision.
- If you apply to CEPRES International University under Restrictive Early Action, you may apply to other colleges and universities under their Regular Decision plan.
- If you apply to CEPRES International University under Restrictive Early Action and are either not admitted or your application is deferred, you may apply to another college’s Early Decision II plan.
Exceptions
CEPRES International University permits simultaneous applications with a decision plan of Restrictive Early Action and to the following:
